The silk skin body Cream is a light, Non- greasy body lotion, carefully and intentionally formulated to hydrate and restore dry skin conditions. The skin texture is visibly improved with use and looks moist and supple.
It is also used to maintain a healthy, moisturised and supple skin for all skin types.
Formulated with 5% urea, ceramides, cholesterol and essential fatty acids and other Natural moisturising factors (NMF).
In skincare products, ceramides are used to replenish the natural lipids that are lost from exposure to harsh environmental factors, use of drying products, and during in the aging process. They restore moisture, fortify the skin’s natural barrier and help protect it against harm from foreign elements. Ceramides are also particularly effective in treating eczema.
Lipid molecules are found in high concentrations within cell membranes in the top layer of the skin, ceramides hold skin cells together, forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and retains moisture. (Think of skin cells as the bricks and ceramides as the mortar.)
Ceramides fall under the category of “skin-replenishing” (aka skin-identical) ingredients. Because they’re naturally a part of your skin, ceramides are ideal for all skin types—even the most sensitive, breakout-prone, or oily skin.
Cholestrol level in our skin starts to decline as we get older, but that doesn’t mean that only the over-forty crowd can benefit from topical cholesterol. No matter how old you are, every time you wash your face, exfoliate, or apply an aggressive anti-aging treatment, you strip the skin of its natural lipids, including cholesterol. Do this too often and you can end up with a compromised skin barrier—moisture seeps out, irritants get in, and skin becomes dry, irritated, and inflamed. Using a product containing cholesterol helps to replace these essential fats, keeps the skin barrier healthy, and ultimately results in a smoother, more hydrated complexion.
Urea is a naturally occurring substance found in the surface layer of our skin, and it is an active part of our natural moisturising factor (NMF), which functions to keep skin hydrated, protected and working efficiently.
A healthy skin will typically contain 28 micro grams of urea per square centimetre a dehydrated, dry skin can see a reduction of as much as 50% and those with eczema as much as 80%.
Whilst applications of emollient and occlusive ingredients coat the skins surface creating instant moisturisation it is only a temporary fix, it won’t improve the skins ability to create and hold water, like urea does.
When it is applied to the skin it penetrates the stratum corneum, where it readily absorbs and retains water, thus increasing the capacity of the skin to hold moisture and rehydrate.
